Next step in EZONE refurbishment

The realisation of EZONE UWA is a step closer, with the next stage of refurbishment works commencing at the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.

Once complete, EZONE UWA will provide an integrated learning, research and industry engagement space for students, academics and the wider engineering and mathematical sciences community.

Move managers and support personnel have begun moving offices and fixtures to new locations on the Crawley campus, as well as remodelling existing labs and office spaces in the central and the southern end of the Civil and Mechanical Engineering building (Building 224) and the ground floor of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering building (Building 226).

These moves will facilitate the building of the new EZONE UWA Student Hub, which will be constructed on the future cleared site of the north end of Building 224 and the remodelled Environmental Systems Engineering building (Building 222).

As part of the process of remodelling and repurposing existing buildings, Building 222 and parts of Building 224 will be stripped of their internal fabric and given a new fit out and finish. The removal of the internal fabric will be monitored and undertaken under legislative controls and managed under an approved Site Specific Safety Management Plan (SSMP). The removal of any hazardous materials, such as old and contaminated waste and or asbestos containing materials (ACM) will also be managed under the SSMP.

This stage of the refurbishment will take place between December 2017 and March 2018. Campus Management and contractors are taking all possible measures to minimise disruption to staff and students.

Changes to driveway access or deliveries:

There are no changes to driveway access or nearby delivery areas but be aware that site vehicles will generally use Fairway 2 entry which will mean an increase in traffic off Fairway.

Changes to bus stops, taxi or parking:

Bus stops and taxi areas will not be affected. Existing motorcycle parking and visitor parking in car park 15 may be affected for a short duration. Keep an eye out for notices on timing.
